Easter Morning

I know that Easter is all about the resurrection of Jesus Christ our Savior who died for our sins on the Cross. Still there's a part of me that wakes up on Easter morning and wants to run into the living room, grab my Easter basket, and search for Cadbury mini eggs, creme eggs, and Marshmallow Peeps. Or to head over to my in laws house, where there is also candy and goodies for all of us who are still child-like inside.
We weren't able to go home for Easter this year (which made us sad, but there's nothing we could do), so imagine my surprise when the Easter Bunny came anyway and left goodies for me in the passenger seat of Josh's car after the sunrise service this morning!
I hid one of the plush Peeps in my knitting bag and brought it to church with me. This made me very happy for some reason. The Easter Bunny sent us a Amazon gift card too, which is probably going towards the Yarn Harlot's new book.
I wish everyone a very happy Easter! Have fun! Be child-like! Blow up Peeps in the microwave!

Happy Valentine's Day!

Heh heh heh, I got Josh these for Valentine's Day, along with a box of Butterfinger hearts and Buddy the Dog from Hallmark.
So far Josh has surprised me with a Tinkerbell mug:

And a Tinkerbell tote bag, which is a sure sign of love. Josh always tells me I have too many totes, but he knew I would love this one so much that he bought it for me.
So my friend Kriss was here last week, and we all had the best time together, along with our other best friend, Aaron. We went to a couple of bars (something I've never done before), watched Mystery Science Theater and the Dresden Files, and generally just had a great time. Kriss also got to stand in the snow for the first time in like, fourteen years:
Doesn't she look cold? :) She wanted enough snow to cancel her flight so she could stay, so of course the storm hit AFTER she went home. It's all her fault. :)
As promised, (over a week ago) Charlotte's Web shawl pictures:
I'm hoping that finishing this shawl will give me enough confidence to re-start the dragon shawl that Angela sent me the pattern for a couple of years ago. Here's hoping!

Brains....

I know, I know, I made a resolution to blog more and haven't blogged since. I think work was trying to break our will and make us into zombie slaves by having us do two inventories a day or really long single inventories for the entire month.
I was barely in the apartment and I was missing my husband, who's also been working hard. I was too tired to go to prayer shawl knitting group or choir even and opted instead to stay home and be with Josh.
You see, it really has gotten to the point (actually it got to the point months ago.) where I simply don't enjoy choir or the prayer shawl group as much as I used to. It started to feel like it was something I was expected to do instead of something I enjoyed doing. So as much as I'll miss the people in both those groups, I'm going to take some time off. I simply need more time for myself and for my husband, less stress and more "us" time. I hope everyone understands.
Now that that's out of the way...
This hat looks so much better on Sarah, my friend at work that I made it for, but I didn't have my camera with me at the time. This is the Gothic Glam Yule Hat from Anticraft: Knitting, Beading and Stitching for the Slightly Sinister. I think my friend Kriss might need one too, she's certainly would look good in it.
Okay, tomorrow I will post more and there will be sock pictures and maybe even a glimpse of a Charlotte's Web shawl in progress. Thanks to those people who keep checking my blog, even when I don't update in forever!

Happy New Year!

It turns out this year's resolutions are pretty much the same as last years: Go to the gym more, eat better, blog more frequently, and knit up some of my stash! Especially sock yarn!

Isn't this pretty? It's a skein of Jitterbug Ellen gave me for my birthday. I think it will go on the needles next, I just need to figure out which pattern to use. Then there's this, which just came today:
Noro sock yarn. I cannot WAIT!!!
Happy knitting (or whatever) in the new year everyone!

Fun in Florida!

I had the best time with Kriss during my little mini-vacation to Florida! I only wish I could have stayed longer.
I managed to fly out just before Thursday's snowstorm and it was lovely (and shocking) to land in 80 degree sunny weather with beautiful palm trees. First stop was a hair appointment for Kriss, and a surprise hair appointment for me too! It's all part of the Jenny Makeover Project, the goal of which is to make me look trendy and cool, I think. :) Not only did I get cute, shorter hair, I also got my eyebrows waxed for the first time. Ouch! Definitely worth the pain though.
We went and saw the midnight showing of I Am Legend at the Premier Theater, and let me tell you, they should build one of these in Milford. You get to sit in these wonderful plush "loveseats" and you can drink alcohol during your movie, how cool is that? Kriss and I split a split of white wine... I can't remember what kind, I think it was a pinot grigio of some sort. Tasty at any rate. Also, free popcorn!
The next morning we went shopping (the morning after that we went shopping too. There was lots of shopping.) and that night we went out looking at Christmas lights. Let me tell you, it might be the good weather or the fact that people have more money than sense, but we saw a lot of elaborate light shows. None as elaborate as this one though.

It takes three months for them to decorate the entire front and back yard, and all the donations go to charity. Every inch of the house is covered with lights, can you imagine what the electric bill must be?
Presents! Kriss brought some lambies back from Ireland for me! Aren't they cute?
Kriss also bought me books, mostly paranormal romances. I think my favorite has to be the Dark Hunter series by Sherrilyn Kenyon. I already bought the second book, Kriss!
I had presents for Kriss too. Glow in the dark zombies, the books, "How to Survive A Horror Movie," and "The Zen of Zombie," a little felted Milan kitten:
And a zombie penguin I commissioned from my friend Angela, who was nice enough to send it to Kriss house. Isn't he the coolest? I like his octopus "victim." Thank you, Angela!
Of course I had to make some catnip toys for Milan, Kriss's kitty. Next time I'm going to make felted mice and see how long it takes for Milan to destroy those.

Milan got catnip on the penguin blanket and then started pouncing on the penguins. Too funny!
Thanks for a great time, Kriss! Hopefully next time Josh will be able to come too and have fun with us.

Thankful

I wanted to write this post a couple of days ago, but I came down with a wicked cold and all I wanted to do was lie around in my pajamas and try to knit. So right now I'm thankful for Tylenol Cold + Sinus, without which life would have been just unbearable this past week.
I'm also thankful that I have two families that love me very much, great friends, a wonderful husband-man, a bed to sleep in and food to eat. I'm also thankful that I have a talent for knitting and some nice alpaca yarn so I can make this Christmas gift for someone special:

It's the Irish hiking scarf knit in a wonderful handspun alpaca. Isn't it lovely?

Happy Thanksgiving, I hope everyone has a great holiday!

P.S. I'm also thankful for Thanksgiving Parades and big Garfield Balloons! :)
